Subject: [TMG] Residence Tag was printing IDR
Date: Mon, 01 Oct 2001 06:49:04 -0700
I get most of my residence tags from city directories or marriage
records. In the older directories only the Head of Household and any
older working children were shown. If I know the wife was living I may
put her as the second principal but leave the surety for the directory
source blank. If the children are not listed in the directory then I do
not enter them as witnesses.
If a child is shown as residing with the parents and then marries and
moves, I modify the sentence to show that he/she lived there only part
of the time period.
So a Residence tag might have P1 Henry Smith, P2 Alice Smith, Date: 1912
- 1925, Place 100 Maplewood Avenue, Gloucester MA, witness George Smith.
Sentence P1 and P2 lived D L and WO resided with them {until he married
in 1919) ()added to default.
Sources, Gloucester City Directory 1912 through 1919 Sureties 3 13 .
Gloucester City Directory 1920 through 1925 Sureties 3313 .
Spouses were listed starting in 1920. Henry was listed as boarding at
the address from 1912 to 1919.
I always put the Census as a separate tag as it contains so much
information.
