Subject: [TMG] Is XP Ready to run?

new machine is the only way to go. Mainly it's the stability issues that
drive that conclusion, and I really don't want to start with Win2k and
upgrade later. But I've run the XP compatibility checker and find a lot of
concerns - enough that I'm considering putting off the purchase. Here's what
I found - any thoughts on any of them?

Yes drivers may be an issue, But with XP released those should be handled
quickly. Also note that
99% of the 2k drivers work fine in XP. XP drivers will see further
integration into the OS. But if
the Item has a 2k driver now it will run in XP.

I do know the Scan jets work fine within XP, from scanning the Hardware
news group for wpp.
And remember Release date is on the 25th, not a long wait considering the
improved reliability.

Haven't used Exchange so I don't .

upgrade.
Yep any utility program will need to be updated. Although I was running
Symantec Norton System Works
in XP betas with a one file update that Symantec provided, as long as I
remained with a FAT system.

6.0 on my wife's machine),

Partition Magic works fine as long as you remain in FAT. Although I do
recommend updated to 7.x that handles
the slight update to the NTFS file system.

Should work fine, although IE 6 has similiar features for cookies. If it
works with IE 6 and 2k it will work in XP.

same version on my wife's

utility isn't needed on it.
don't know what wintop does.

sharing to TCP/IP and lose a

prefer for you to get a seperate NIC card for your home network anyway:)
