I recently reformatted my hard drive and reinstalled everything. When I
tried to look at properties for my hard drive prior to the format, the
properties screen never appeared. All other operations were sluggish. I
suspected some sort of virus but my Norton Anti-Virus came up clean.

Since the reformat, everything is working normally. Strange...

hello Bob, thanks for taking time to reply - I have aprox 578 mg ram -
and
the errors are affecting everything to the extent that I am now in the
process of clearing my machine and starting again - shall repartition my
hard drive while I am at it (or my son will ! )
Something else that is happening - when I open my machine and check the
properties for drive C - the drive jumps from a normal half full to
overflowing !!
