Lee,
Thank you for your response. I looked at your web site and the way you
included the anecdotal information is basically what I want. In reference
to message below, my experience is similar. This may be an "undocumented"
feature eg works that way even though it was not designed to. I looked at
the note and anecdote tags. The only real difference seems to be in the
default sentence. My mini experiment was to first assign a second
principle and a witness.

Then in the sentence line I put "[P1] [P2] [W] [WO] [:CR:][M] "

In the memo field I put "[P1] recalls [P2] was strange. [W] agrees."

Hitting enter resulted in the sentence becoming "[P1] [P2] [P] [WO]
[:CR:][M]" ----- W became P and I could not force it to save the sentence
with W

The printed narrative reflected this change and the memo field also printed
with the names associated with the codes except the [W] printed the [P]
reflecting the change forced in the sentence but it did allow me to save
the memo with [W].

I then used [P1] [P2] [WO] [:CR:][M] and in the memo field I put "[P1]
recalls [P2] was strange. [WO] agrees." and all the substitutions
(sentence and memo) worked.

This behavior may be the result of the process used in building the
sentence/memo substitutions and may not be there in V5.

Bruce

Lee
I have created a tag called Death-note. The Sentence for this tag is [M]. It
is a two principal Tag in group "other".

In the memo field of one particular subject I have this "[P] and [PO] died
within days of each other in Mar 1973 in an Elgin Nursing Home"

The sentence prints for P1 as "John P. Doe and Jane B. Doe died within days
of each other in Mar 1973 in an Elgin Nursing Home.

The names are reversed for P2.

So in a long winded way I'm saying the variables do work fine in the memo
field for me.
On a few tags I have created Roles and they work fine also (such as husband,
wife, etc...).
