Lee has given a good explanation and a solution.
Using Edit > Copy > Tag produces the same results.
In my judgement, it is an anomaly. I cannot believe that the loss of the
custom sentence when a tag is copied was the result of conscious design,
for if it were, there would be a warning somewhere.
