Subject: [TMG] Exhibit FAQ anywhere?
Date: Sun, 2 Dec 2001 10:08:25 -0500
Does anyone already have a site or page where there might be an article entitled "Everything you ever wanted to know about exhibits in TMG?". I'm looking for some guidelines before I go and do a lot of work attaching exhibits that will later have to be changed. Mainly, I'm not clear on how graphic images should be stored and how they can be handed on reports.
1) I would think that external files are the way to go since it's easy to update them without going into TMG to do it. However, where to put them is a problem. Directories have a way of changing. For example, I just got a new PC and organized things so that my TMG folders were now on drive D instead of C. I copied my TMG databases over, but links to pictures were broken since they pointed to the C drive. I had hoped that TMG kept *relative* links, as the pictures were in a subfolder of my database directory, but it apparently keeps them as full path specs. Any way around this?
2) How does TMG decide what size to use when putting a picture in a report? Ideally, I'd like to scan at a fairly high res and then specify the "output" graphic size depending on the report. Obviously, a picture that goes into a chart box has to be sized down by the program (I noticed that FTST does this). I'd also like it to work this way when exhibits are displayed on other reports, rather than having to scan the picture in at a particular size or resolution. How does this work in TMG?
I didn't see any recent tips about this subject on the usual web FAQ site, but maybe I was looking in the wrong place.
