Ann,
Regarding your questions about moving from V4.2 Generations directly to
TMG ... you need to do some other things first. V4.2 of Generations not
only had some major errors in GEDCOM definition for long notes, it was
also written before the GEDCOM 5.5 standard. You should upgrade
Generations to the current version, use it to upgrade the database
(there's a routine in the original open of the older files ...) There is
no limit to sources or note size in the current version of Generations.
Then you can create a clean GEDCOM 5.5 and import with TMG.
