To avoid ruining good data with bad. In other words, to be able to back
track to check out files (on one disc or floppie). I don't know if I am
making sense, but it is my understanding that you would not want to
overwrite your files in case you have a corrupted file or some bad
mistake that would mess up a previously saved good file. I am not a
computer expert and don't really know which is best, but I have read and
heard that you don't over write if possible to avoid it. These would be
backups on the same disc or floppie.
If you erased the media, then I guess you could use it over and over as
long as it worked. As I said, I am not expert and don't know which is
the best.
