Hi Teresa,
if you deselect 'Use Label for Witnesses' option in the Tag Type Definitions Screens for each Tag it shows as follows (e.g. Marriage tag with a Witness role of ParentBride):

With roles in Person Views of Witnesses:
Witness (date) ParentBride; Marriage: Groom, Bride

If roles are not used:
Witness (date) Marriage: Groom, Bride

In Detail style reports:
with role:
Witness (date) ParentBride; Marriage: Groom, Bride
without role:
Witness (date) Witness; Marriage: Groom, Bride

Narrative reports print the Witness (Role) sentence

It would be obvious to any reader that this person was a witness to the event, not a principal.

If narratives show the principal sentence instead, you might want to check the default sentences. I've had several occasions, where I, without changing anything in the Tag Type Definitions Screens, suddenly find wrong sentences, e.g. wrong language, wrong role, wrong gender or even from a completely different tag, sometimes annexed to the original sentence, sometimes completely replacing them. I have no idea how they suddenly got there (waiting for TMG 5 and hoping the problem will go away :-) )

Sorry, if none of this helps I'm out of ideas.

Good luck,
Astrid
