Okay - Last summer after an exhaustive many months of going through my database and rechecking sentences, etc. for output/publishing purposes, I was finally ready to start adding pictures. There are many family members waiting for a copy of their history... And I told everyone it would be shortly. I scanned everything in -- opened TMG, and clicked on the camera -- everything locked up. I had to reboot my PC. I cleared everything out after restarting, and tried again. Same result. Very irritating. To make matters worse, in a hurry I will sometimes accidentally click on the camera instead of the person if I am adding an entire family, for instance. And, joy, my PC locks up. Very irritating. I finally got a call from TMG, and I was told that I didn't have enough memory. 64MB????? That seemed pretty wild to me. But okay. Yesterday I finally had an extra $55 to upgrade and I added 128MB to my machine - I now have a whopping 192MB of memory (mind you, I do A LOT of!
graphics and normally don't have a problem, in addition to always running at least 3 or 4 programs at one time)...
So last night in my excitement to FINALLY get started on publishing (I know this is only the START of the irritation - TMG won't do a full print, yet that I can find, I have to do a group at a time, which is a hassle, especially with web pages -- but that's another email) -----
Clicked on the camera and------ IT LOCKED UP. In my anger and total frustration, I shut everything down and went to bed. This morning I rebooted, cleared the CLOSE PROGRAM log of everything but the essentials -- and now it works ---- So, this program, irregardless of what the "requirements" were listed as when I first purchased -- needs 150MB or so of memory to do something I had with my old program? Does anyone else have this problem?
I switched due to the fact that UFT went under -- but I had much more functionality (and NO lock-ups) with my printing which is very important, a high priority, for me. I'm at the point of wondering if I'm better off exporting to a gedcom, then importing into my old program just to publish, and with pictures.... Any thoughts anyone?
