But I do put either name in the surname field. My complaint is about
those people who put both names [as if they were hyphenated, such as
Monssøn Arentz] into the same field.
It is true that TMG can filter a picklist search to find any certain
element, but I'm not always using TMG. Sometimes I'm using that clever
GenViewer, but generally I'm skimming through an alphabetized picklist
for groups of familiar names. Filtration works OK for a single search,
but doesn't exactly speed up the perusal of an interesting gedcom
plucked from, say, Ancestry.com.
Please put anything you think was used as a surname in the surname box,
is my message, until Bob finds a better way.
