Hi:

My sister and brother married brother and sister,
respectively. We have always referred to my three
nieces and one nephew as double cousins to each other.

There is a biological reason NOT to consider double
cousins as being the same as siblings. Each married
couple represents, not the full genetic possibilities
of their four parents, but rather selections from
the possibilities. Since there is a statistical
likelihood of zero (to the nth decimal) that the
married siblings exactly duplicate each others'
genetic makeup, the double cousins will be drawing
from different pools. The exception (which is not at
all unheard of) is when identical twins marry
identical twins.
