Hi Darrell and all (especially newbies):
I, like you, have chosen external exhibits, but my main reason is actually, that I consider it a _dis_advantage to have exhibits backed up every time with the data set. It really balloons the backup file size and therefore takes much longer.
E.g When I had only about 800+ Persons in my data set and relatively few internal exhibits, my backup set was well over 2 MB. Wouldn't want to know the backup file size with many internal exhibits and a large data set!
I needed to email it to Tech. Support with something unrelated and had considerable trouble (don't know why, I since have sent files larger then that to other people and no problems) That's when I decided to go external and my TMG backup file with 1054 persons is now 224 KB.
Yes, I have to backup the external exhibits separately, but I only need to back them up, when I have made changes, even easier since I have a CDRW, but backup files size also to be considered to floppy and it cuts down daily TMG backup time considerably.
BTW, I have exhibits in a separate folder outside of TMG (called C:\TMGbakup)
Just thought I'd mention it, so that newbies know about possible problems with internal exhibits.
Astrid
