Hi Mac,

I agree with what you are asking but I don't see how it would be
handled.

Using your "group wedding photo" let's assume that it shows the bride,
Mary Jones; groom, Bill Smith; best man, George Smith (Bill's
brother); bride's maid, Sally Jones (Mary's sister): and all four
parents. As I attach the photo to each individual, I would want
descriptions like:

Caption: George Smith, best man [:CR:] Wedding of Mary Jones and Bill
Smith [:CR:] 3 June 1899: George is the younger brother of the groom,
Bill Smith. The parents of Bill and George are the couple standing to
the left rear of George.

Caption: Bill Smith, groom [:CR:] Wedding of Mary Jones and Bill Smith
[:CR:] 3 June 1899: Bill is the elder brother of the his best man,
George Smith. The parents of Bill and George are the couple standing
to the left rear of George.

In other words I would not want the same caption for all eight persons
shown in the photo. It seems very redundant to have the same image
shown eight times in Exhibit Log. However, I do not have a clue how
one could attain the same versatility and have the image appear one
time. My description, caption and topic would vary depending on to
whom or to what the photo is attached. Since a group wedding photo
could contain a very large number of relatives from both families, it
would seem that each exhibit would have to have a table that included
fields for every variable that a user might want to apply. While such
an approach is certainly possible, it would seem to violate the KISS
principle and just create different problems in an attempt to make it
easier.

If you have something else in mind, and can present a means that is
not overly complicated, I am sure that it would be considered for a
future release.

Note: I do not recommend using group photos in Exhibit Log, as I have
implied by the statements above. I use it as an example only. The
Slideshow Manager (SSM) in Family Tree SuperTools would, IMO, be a
better place to display group photos and I assume that TMG5 will have
similar features. Even in SSM, it is desirable to duplicate the same
image as many times as needed so as to provide a description that
pertains to one person in the photo.

I am overdue to go off line and leave for the west coast. I happened
to be taking a lunch break and thought I would express my opinion. I
may not be subscribed if you reply and thus I may not see your
response. I hope you have some good ideas about how to implement what
you are asking for because, done right, it could be a nice
improvement.
