It can be done using an intermediate table that would negate the
many-to-many relationship that would occur being able to assign an exhibit
to a number of sources/events/people. To take your captioning problem of
a wedding photo as an example, there could be a field within this new
table that allows a different caption to that defined for the exhibit
itself. Rather like the option to apply a different sentence to the
default for a particular role within an event. Thus if the caption field
is left blank in the new table then the default caption is used.
I grant you that it may be that this feature may not be used very often
but, like the ability to assign surety, sources and research tasks to a
witness role within an event, then I think that it would increase the
flexibility of the programme even more.
