Jane,
You are going in the right direction. When you generate the LOP
report, you don't need the "Change flag 'KEEP' check mark" any more.
Uncheck it.
1. On the FOCUS Tab, check "Filtered Group"
2. Click the FIELD box, then K which will probably get you
directly to KEEP, if not scroll until you are there
3. Click the OPERATOR box, select "Equal"
4. Click the VALUE box, enter Y
Ignore the first and last columns since you are only using one
condition.
5. Click GENERATE
You will see a counter telling you how many people met your
criteria (those you are keeping).
6. Click OK
Now, assuming you have not deleted any lines under the OUTPUT
COLUMNS, you'll see a list of those people.
7. Assuming the list looks reasonable, just click OK (you don't
have to examine the list if it is too big)
8. You'll be asked for a name for the new data set; give it a
different name than you used previously. Click CREATE
The new data set will be created. When you are satisfied that it
has everyone you want and excludes those who don't belong, you can start
using this one as your primary data set. I would NOT delete the original
until you are 250% POSITIVE that it has no information that you will be
losing accidently. You may want to either retain it as-is or create
another new data set where KEEP=N so that when you come across one of
those people again, you'll have documentation that s/he is not part of
your line.
