Pat,
I have thought about what you asked and here is my opinion for what it's
worth.
I have been using TMG 5.01 since it was first released. I found and posted
what was probably the first buglet on the list later that day. (or maybe the
next, wasn't sleeping much then. <G>)
I have since found several other issues that Bob knows about and is working
on. I have all my data in TMG 5.01 and I am adding new data at this point
into 5.01. If Bob sends an email tomorrow that 5.01 corrupts data, then I
will go back to 4.0 and will have only lost a few weeks of work. For me, the
easiest way to learn the new program is to simply use it. My own data works
best, since I don't know the people in the sample dataset. If an error
occurs, I will recognize it right away in my dataset. I make frequent
backups and keep them all in case a bug is found that does corrupt data.
It's been two weeks, and as far as I know none have been found that do.
I am learning all about the new features and how TMG 5.0 works. It wasn't any
more expensive today than it would be 4 months from now (actually it's less,
since I got the UFT and FTST discounts). And if, after a month of using it,
I decide I don't like it and want to go back to 4.0, I can easily walk
through what I did and do it all again in 4.0.

Now for problems I am having that I hope Bob can fix. MSL is incredibly slow
to open. I had the same problem with the Exhibit Log in FTST and it now
works great, so I am hoping that this is something that will get better as
the wrinkles are ironed out. Some problems I have had, have been solved here
in a matter of a few seconds by another user or a beta tester, and were
simply user error.
So I guess it all boils down to this. Do you want to play now, or later? <G>
As far as the manual goes, I prefer online help myself.
