Subject: [TMG] Notice: Don't Use Validate File Integrity

Notice: Laura has reported and we have confirmed a problem with the
Validate File Integrity feature.
The problem is that if you add an event to TMG5, give it Sort Date but NOT
a date, and then run Validate File Integrity, then it will erase that sort
date. Note that the problem does NOT affect any events that were imported
from TMG4 and it does NOT affect events that were entered into TMG5 with
both a date and a sort date.
Naturally, we consider this a serious problem as it risks the loss of
user's data but it is relatively rare. In fact, we know of only one person
who has encountered it. Nonetheless, there will be a newsletter to discuss
it later today and a revision that will fix this problem uploaded sometime
tomorrow.
In the meantime, as Jim said, it is best to avoid the Validate File
Integrity feature until this is fixed.
We apologize for the inconvenience that this may cause some users and we
appreciate the help of all of those who tested and tried to help us
diagnose the problem.
Note that theres is an unrelated problem (empty unused records) which is
caught by Validate File Integrity causing some users to get a message that
a large number of problems have been fixed. We don't have any evidence to
suggest that this problem is any cause for alarm - but we hope to fix the
empty unsed records problem soon too.
