Though I have deleted the project that had the sort date problem, I believe
I can safely say that it was not my entire database that was affected as I
reported. I had rearranged, added to, and otherwise edited quite a few
records that were imported from 4.d, making it appear that the entire
database was affected. I was working with a filtered list, and it was
careless of me not to make certain that unaltered records were also
affected. In the future, I will think things through before I hit the panic
button.
Thanks go to all who got right on this problem.
