I have a half-grand-aunt who was born in Missouri. For years, everyone
(including her) said she was born in Kentucky. But then I found some
family papers that my GF had after his father died which included some
receipts including a doctor's receipt noting payment for service's during
my grand-aunt's birth and her mother's subsequent death. It was definitely
Missouri. Apparently my G-GF then moved back to Kentucky having only been
there for about a year. The grave for my G-GF's first is in Kentucky --
apparently my G-GF brought his deceased wife back to KY for burial (or at
least had a grave set aside with a marker) and this is why everyone said
my grand-aunt was born in Kentucky).

Then there is my grand-aunt (half-sister to the above) who was born in
Kentucky. No problem except the about five years ago, I found evidence
that she was a twin and her twin sister was stillborn. I do not know that
my mother knew of this. Not even sure that my GF knew it or even my
grand-aunt. Nothing was ever said about it. I have been trying to go
visit my mother's 1st cousin to she if she ever knew about it, but can't
seem to get there. I have sent her some reports that show the twin birth
and the cousin hasn't said anything which either confirms it or she didn't
really see it or just hasn't said anything.

Thus your aunt may be right in saying she was born in Iowa. Did here
parent's tell her that? Or had she always lived in Iowa and thought she
was born there (moving just after birth). Conversely she might have been
born in Iowa and moved shortly after to Missouri. There are at least four
different possibilities here although two would probably be ruled out
quickly based on which way the family moved (Iowa to Missouri or Missouri
to Iowa).
