Well, yes and no, but don't quote me.

More specifically - it depends on a number of factors: how much information
I have from a specific person/source; how interested I am in the person or
people I'm using the source for; how I want the source to print out in reports.

I usually prefer granularity, which is to say dividing the information as
small as possible. I have two types of e-mail source, one for individual
messages and one for exchanges where I have kept up a running conversation
on a specific topic. For example, the e-mail from proud papa announcing
the birth of a new grandnephew got put in a single e-mail
category. However, I've had a running correspondence with a cousin about a
family we share, and those all go into a single source.
