When ever I get information from another, whether off a web site, email, or hard copy, that does not explicitly cite sources, I try to learn from that author what I can about
sources. As you say, that's very often nothing. Then I document what I learn in the Comments in the Source definition. Then I modify the full footnote template to add the
[Comments] element if it isn't there already, so if I print something that cites that source, the reader will know what I know. Lack of information means nothing is known about
that source, at least in my data, and thus I assume the worst.
