I'm in agreement with Terry on posting only BMD data. My data has taken
many years and no small expense to accumulate. Some is the result of
research that required diligently pursuing trails which ultimately paid off
but which took trips to libraries, courthouses, etc. far removed from my
home. Why spread the fruits of my labor on the internet where anyone can
copy and pass it off as his own? While my sources aren't on the internet my
email address is with a notice inviting correspondence for further
information and I answer every email received. I've made some wonderful
contacts and real progress on three lines sharing in this way as we worked
together to solve research problems. If my sources had been published, I
might never have had those opportunities.

I might add that I've received emails more than once from someone
"correcting" something I've posted but offering no source for the
correction. My data was the result of research theirs of copying some
dubious reference. I look at genealogy published on the web as a way of
making contacts and finding clues for further research, not as an easy way
to fill in blank spaces and avoid doing the research myself.

Also it's rather disconcerting to receive an email from someone saying "I
got this somewhere on the internet" and finding my own writing, word for
word staring up at me. When this happened, I removed all data except BMD
from my WorldConnect file.
