Another thought on this subject. What I really like on the Internet are
collections of raw data. I can form my own opinions but sometimes a trip to a
far library or archive is tough going. I have tons of marriage, birth, death,
census data for families which I research. If it were relatively easy to do I
would be happy to publish that data on the Internet for access by others. I
have just for example visited bath County, KY a number of times and believe I
have listed every Sorrell marriage recorded in that county. I would be happy
to make that data availible for others to use. However, I have so far
refrained (with one exception) from publishing my interrpretations of such
data such as trees, relationships etc because I am so leary of the trees etc
of others on the Net that I hesitate to burden others with mine, until we
figure out a better way to ensure correctness and currency in the
information. But publishing of raw data is something else which is most
helpful. I have one family web site that does just that by publishing census
data for the family surname and I find this very helpful and time saving,
although even this has to be treated with caution.-Dale
