I would like to attach a custom flag to all individuals who died as an
infant (i.e., less than one year old) but can't figure out how to set the
filter.

Thinking in Excel terms, it would be where date of death is less than date
of birth plus 365 days, but can't come up with anything in the list that
will do it. Where year of death equals year of birth wouldn't catch
everyone.

Suggestions?

Another sector (ancestral German database) I would like to identify are
children born before the parents' marriage.
