Jann,
The only question you asked that I'm going to give my opinion about is
abbreviating the word "county". I don't know enough about TMG to answer the
rest of your questions. :-)
I have heard this topic discussed many times, and from what I've
experienced it seems that the overwhelming answer to your question is ...
spell the word "county" out in full.
Abbreviations can be misunderstood, or as someone else already said,
they can change over time.
Another thing to keep in mind: will a genealogist from another country
know what "Co." stands for?
