Most users place that in the Detail place field. Others include that in
the Tag Memo field.

"Of" is used in many sources. About all that it means is that the person
is or was a resident of that place at the time of an event or
publication. For example, we seldom say anything like "President Bush of
Texas" although we might say "Governor Jones of Kentucky". In this last,
it only meant that Mr. Jones was the Governor at the time of the
statement. It would not mean that he had been born in Kentucky (he hadn't)
or that he had lived the majority of his life in Kentucky. To say Lee
Hoffman of Florida in February of 1976 would have been correct in that I
had been living there then. But I was not born there or (to that time) had
I lived much of my life there. Thus I would only suggest using "of" in a
dated tag. If all the information about a person when a date is not
assignable that he was "John Doe of Virginia" then I would try to determine
a date range or add something like "know to have lived in ..." or "said to
be of ..." In any of these cases, the "prefix" information can be entered
in the Detail field, in the Memo field, or even in the specific place field
(e.g., State). Entries in the Memo field would necessitate editing of the
Tag Sentence so that the sentence would read properly. In the case of
entry in say the State field (e.g., "of Virginia"), searching for
"Virginia" might not been as easy as not having the "prefix" there although
it would not be all that much different. Also sorting of place information
would be affected (e.g., compare how "of Virginia and "Virginia" would sort).
