Adding custom sources types will do nothing to your existing Mills category sources. But before you can add any custom source types you need to change the Source Category from Mills to Custom, if that has not been previously done. You do that on the System Configuration screen. You existing Mills source types will remain, but now you will be able to add new custom ones in addition.

As Lee has said, there are articles on both his website and mine on how to best go about the actual creation of you new custom Source Types. Mine starts at http:reigelridge.com/tmg/Sources.htm

I'm not quite sure what you mean by "adapt a Mills source" but I suspect you mean copy one and then modify the copy. That is the method I recommend in the article on my website. If you do so it will then appear in the list of available source types along with all your existing one when you create any new source. I wouldn't call that list the "Mills List" anymore once you have added to those based on her examples, but the answer to the question I think you are asking is yes, it will appear on the list.
