I don't want to give WinXP updates a bad name.

I haven't had any problem of system instability or hard drive crashes
and I've been using WinXP with the auto update feature on for about 6
weeks now. The updating, per se, seems to go well and unobtrusively.

I was following up on Cheri's theory that the auto update setting for
WinXP and Norton Systemworks might be behind some of the problems that
seem to crop in TMG 5.03. The problems I experience (open Project
Explorer confuses/substitutes person ID #'s when adding new tags) are
annoying, but not fatal.

Therefore, before a long TMG session, it would seem easy enough to just
turn off the auto updating for the duration and then turn it back on
when I'm through.

Anyway, I'll try it this weekend and report back.

I do defrag at least weekly, as well as run a Norton System check to
find bad files and directories. I'm sure that TMG, with so many files
in a project database, gets fragmented fairly quickly.

Greg
