Gilbert,

I too switched from Generations to TMG. I found that the TMG Video Tutorials Getting Started and Intermediate helped in the process and I would recommend them.

Since TMG did not have a bridge to Generations, I used the GEDCOM approach to transfer my data. There were a few (depending on the size of your data file) changes to be made, especially in the place names which was done by editing the Master Place List.

All in all, I have not been disappointed, although I am still waiting patiently for the reports.
