I won't install a piece of software on my system if it requires that I
make modifications to my operating system to work. And I consider
anti-virus definition updates to be "part of the operating system" in
today's environment.
If I find a game that requires changing my screen resolution to run,
it doesn't get installed. I'm not going to give up the photo
processing power of true-color, high resolution to run a game in 256
colors.
By the same token, if, as some have suggested, TMG 5.x requires
turning off the automatic updates which protect my computer from virii
and intrusions, it isn't going on the machine.
Imagine the problems this list could create if automatic virus updates
were turned off for each person who has come to depend on them.
