OK I have my terminology mixed up.. so here is what I am doing.
On you page of A Sample Census Source Using the Split CD, I want to try out
your template method.
I went to Master Source List
Clicked Add
Clicked Add again
Now I am at Add Source Type
I name my source type Census 1930
Go to full footnote and cut and paste your full, short and biblio.
Click ok
It then says FULL FOOTNOTE FIELD CONTAINS AN UNRECOGNIZED SOURCE ELEMENT
[COUNTY] and it then goes through all the tags that have problems, for full,
short, and biblio.
I click continue on each, it then brings me to the source definition screen.
In the boxes unter the title are where you can set items, like county and
state.
Well they don't show up. This is what I need to create, and was my originall
question. How do I create them?
Thanks to everyone for the help.

Sounds like you are defining a new source, rather than a Citation
Detail. And it appears that you are trying to create new Source Elements
for State and County. Is there some reason you need custom Source
Elements? Or perhaps you are really trying to do something else and
using the wrong field? If you tell us more about what you are trying to
accomplish perhaps we can be of more help.
