When you imported your data, did you use the "File > Import" and select one
of the "Personal Ancestral File" options in "Step 2: Import From" or did you
select the "GEDCOM" option.

If you selected the "GEDCOM" option, I would strongly suggest that you run
the import again and select one of the "Personal Ancestral File" options.
You will get much better results.
