Helen - When you open a tag, near the very top on the left hand side you
probably have the label Principal (unless you used a custom role; then the
role would be displayed there); next you have the ID number of the principal
and their name is displayed. Reading directly across from that information,
immediately under the three small icons (add a person, research log, exhibit
log), there is a field that displays which name you are using for the
associated individual. Yours is currently reading Primary Name. Next to
that field label is a down arrow. Click on that arrow. This will display
all names that you have identified for the given individual. Select the
name you want off the list. You can also do this for the second principal
associated with any tag. This tag entry display should be identical for all
tags. You need to have alternative names added to the person *before* they
will be available on this drop-down list. In other words, for women for
whom you wish to use a married name, the married name must have already been
added to the woman. Then you can select that name off the list.
Hope this helps you find your way.

Hi Lee and Terry,
Thanks for responding but I must be daffy. I am using version 5.4. When I
try to edit the screen, or even open a new one....I am using the tag entry
screen "address", there is no primary name spot. I have "principal", the
spot for the ID number (this can be changed, but like I mentioned... using
the same number for the married name, always brings up the maiden name, and
to the right of these, the printed version of the first and maiden name.
There is no primary name space to the right of that. Am I in the wrong entry
screen?
My point is to just change to the married name on events that occurred after
the marriage date.
Where are you both seeing this "primary name" space? TIA.
Helen
