It is always best to save an image file in a "lossless" format. I would
suggest that the initial or master 'save' be done in a TIFF format. As
Richard noted, opening and saving a JPEG file will cause the file to lose
data. But opening and saving a TIFF will not. I would not suggest using
GIF as it cannot be used with TMG (although you may want it for other
programs).
