John - If you add pictures and other exhibits as "external" images, when you
do a backup you won't also be having to back up all of the images at the
same time, you are just backing up the data. It took Richard Brogger to
convince me of the wisdom of this. If you have already added a bunch of
internal exhibits, you can convert them to external ones using John
Cardinal's utility. CheriC

Subject: [TMG] Backup media
The list addressed back ups a while back. I started putting photos in my
project, and my last back up took 6 floppys and lots of time. I am hoping
to put a lot of photos in my project (though not every will and census) and
it is clear that soon floppies will not be an option. Will I outgrow CD
roms also as a backup media? If so, I guess I will need to invest in an
external gadget; a few were mentioned with kudos. Does anyone use a backup
"service" with remote, automatic backups?
I have not yet tried to negociate the archives, but several people mentioned
devices they liked. It appears that I am destined to follow in their
footsteps. What are suggestions for the "best" backup devices?
Thanks in advance,
