My experience, several years ago, in Illinois was that you needed to show a
membership card in a Genealogy Society to look at records in the
courthouse. Preferably the Illinois Society - but I found NGS and/or the
Indiana Gen. Soc. card worked as well. The law may be changed by now -- but
it's a thought......
