Dear Anita,
I spent about 6 years using FTM, from version 3 to 10 (with a lot of
muttering, stomping around my office screaming 'Why don't I know enough to
create my own program!", and letters to the support people about "why can't
you include this" without any answers except for one memorable one that
basically said "We don't see why you think that is necessary - no one here
wants to do it that way."). I transferred to TMG last October and now if
someone tried to take my TMG away from me and send me back to FTM, I'd be
wrapped around their legs kicking, gouging and screaming all the way. There
wasn't enough difference between FTM v9 and v10 for me to see that you
should have any problems that I didn't have (most of which I caused by not
reading carefully enough in the archives of this list). My only suggestion
other than to look in the archives for everything you can find on
transferring from FTM to TMG, is to sit down with some paper, after you've
had a look at the archives, and write out some thoughts about what you want
to get when you make the transfer. It might help you make some better
choices in the Advanced Import Wizard (if I have remembered the correct
term).
And then, have fun! Don't try to do all the clean-up at once. I think
Terry's idea of using an ugly accent colour to show people who haven't gone
through the clean-up process is an excellent one.
Good luck!
