RE: The handheld question:
I have a Dell Axim X5 Advanced. It is equipped with MS
Pocket PC 2002 Intel XScale processor at 400 MHz, has a color 3.5 inch
screen, and 64 MB SDRAM and 48MB Intel Strataflash memory. It also has
integrated Type II Compact Flash and Secure Digital/MMC card slots. (That
means you can buy a small camera to insert in the compact flash slot and
get a SD card to save pics on, and carry it into a cemetary, take
pictures and add data all in one fell swoop. Heaven!)
I love mine!! It's a powerful little thing and its leaps and
bounds above anything my friends use. These can only be ordered via the
Dell website and/or by phone. The one I have is the 400 MHz (cost me
$350 with accessories) but they also sell a 300 MHz version for $100
cheaper. As others on the list have said, medical programs are out there
and are free.
There are a few good genealogy programs too -- I hear CEMyFamily
is also a good one to look into, if you like having two different
databases for your ancestors. I didn't want to have to add everything in
twice, or try to import/export into TMG and possibly lose info or make it
go somewhere else <grin> so I went with Pocket Genealogist, which so far
only allows access to your data but not the ability to edit it. But I
hear that an upgrade is coming soon to the program that will allow you
to edit in-program and then sync to your desktop
Now if only TMG would add hand-held syncing to its fabulous
repertoire!!! ;)
