Barbara,
I did exactly like you.....never used another genealogy program. Did a
direct enter of information into TMG. There are advantages to that
system....a lot of them. For example, without an import you can put things
exactly where you want them and there are no surprises. (Consistency is the
key so even if you change your mind later, you can find all the places to
change relatively easily.) You can be confident that you aren't losing any
people or that the place names are getting screwed up, etc.
Just try something new every day. It won't be long before you figure out
what new feature of the program you are ready for next and which parts you
will never wish to use.
Jill

average Genealogy people. Maybe that's my problem--I never used anything
else. When I decided to start researching my family again after about 20+
years, I went online and did a search for comparisons of available genealogy
programs and that's how I ended up with TMG. It looked like it had the best
capabilities and the potential for everything imaginable was there so I
bought it. I am learning how to use it slowly but surely--maybe after a year
or two (or more), I'll feel really comfortable with it. For now, you can
expect more questions from a "newbie".
