That's really interesting!! Do you think they just don't want to be bothered? In Iowa I was able to get the application plus a Return of Marriage which validates that the couple actually used the license and were married. What a difference between neighboring states!!

Some years ago I ordered several marriage records from Adams and Hancock
Counties, IL and ask for the applications in addition to the licenses. I
received two very interesting applications -- one included a copy of a note
from the bride's mother asking that her daughter be granted a license to
marry. A few years ago another researcher ask for the application for this
same marriage and was told that all those old records were in storage and
"the old ones never gave information on the parents."
