Bill,
I my opinion, TMG is NOT hard to use and 5.0 is even easier. BUT having
said that, it depends. Do you need all the report and word processor
out put? If so, stay with 4.0. Do you want a finished product? Stay
with 4.0. Do you want to learn 5.0 and can wait a while for it to be
finished? Then 5.0 might be a better bet for you.
I will say this. I have used 5.0 since May of last year, and I find it
meets all my research needs. It does not meet all my printing needs and
would not meet my research needs, except for the fact that I have a
laptop, so I don't need the List of task report yet, although it would
be a great help. In essence, it really depends on your needs and wants.
And it will be hard for you to say what those are since you haven't used
it yet. But 4.0 and 5.0 use the same data structure (with a few
additions in 5.0) so you won't lose any data when you make the
transition.

Subject: [TMG] TMG Newbie
Hello TMG list,
I just received TMG 4.0 Gold for my birthday and subscribed to the list.
All the postings to the list indicate that this is a difficult program
to use. I have been using old Family Tree Maker 5.0 for Win95 on my new
Win XP system. Any Advice or problems I should look out for in the
transition to TMG ?
Should I upgrade to TMG 5.0 ASAP ?
Regards,
Bill
