I did not actually realize (being a complete amateur) that the reports
followed particular accepted professional formats of genealogical
associations. I suppose if I had given it any thought at all I would
have guessed! I don't see it mentioned in the overall Report topics in
Help, so Bob's explanation below is quite helpful to me in understanding
how the reports that are/will be were decided upon.
What I was expecting in the Individual Narrative, having only the
English definition of the words to guide me and no professional
genealogical background whatsoever, was what could probably best be
called a Biography report. That is why I was surprised at the omission
of children's births and deaths--quite important when producing a whole
picture of someone's life.
Perhaps at some point in the future, after version 5 is completed and
everyone's had a chance to regain their sanity for a bit, a new report
could be put on the wishlist for a future version--a Biography report,
maybe one that would include Sentences that are part of relationship
Tags (or however the developers deemed it most feasible to implement).
Maybe this would be more doable than trying to add yet another option
to existing reports?
I have greatly appreciated and enjoyed the commentary on this topic over
the last week. Thanks to all you knowledgable people who have
contributed to a deeper understanding of the TMG reports.
Just idle speculation,
