Doreen,
I think roles might help here.
Instead of: [:CR:][:TAB:]The dates so far found for [P] and [WO],
<[M1]>,[HID:]relationships to Principle[:HID] present a problem because
they are not consistent with each other.<[M2]>[HID:]explanation of
problem[:HID][:CR:][:TAB:] The dates given in the rest of this report
are from the information I have found - realize that they may not be
plausible! <[M3]>[HID:]date of reasoning & initials in subscript[:HID]
You could have the following roles
Mother
Father
Son
Daughter
And have : For the father role: [:CR:][:TAB:]The dates so far found for
[R:Father] <and [R:Mother], his wife> <,[R:Son], his son> <, R:Daughter,
his daughter> present a problem because they are not consistent with
each other.<[M2]>[HID:]explanation of problem[:HID][:CR:][:TAB:] The
dates given in the rest of this report are from the information I have
found - realize that they may not be plausible! <[M3]>[HID:]date of
reasoning & initials in subscript[:HID]
That should read The dates found for John Doe and Mary, his wife, John,
his son, Rebecca his daughter present a problem because they are not
consistent with each other....
You could also do a different tag for each relationship. So have only a
tag for John and Mary. Then one for John and John, and then John and
Rebecca.

Subject: [TMG] v5.06 Custom Sentence Help, Please! (Age Problems Custom
Tag)
I hope someone can help me with this. I have created a custom tag called
"Age Problems", which I want to use when I notice problems with
inconsistency in date information that I have found. At the moment I see
using it mostly for medieval information from the LDS website, where
there are people being born before their parents, or when the mother
would be 89 years old, etc. (And please don't tell me to verify the
research, because I am never going to be able to access some of those
documents, and if I could, I wouldn't be able to read them anyway!). I
want to use the tag to describe my reasoning about the inconsistencies.
I created the following "sentence".
[:CR:][:TAB:]The dates so far found for [P] and [WO],
<[M1]>,[HID:]relationships to Principle[:HID] present a problem because
they are not consistent with each other.<[M2]>[HID:]explanation of
problem[:HID][:CR:][:TAB:] The dates given in the rest of this report
are from the information I have found - realize that they may not be
plausible! <[M3]>[HID:]date of reasoning & initials in subscript[:HID]
At the moment, the sentence is the same for Witnesses.
I wanted to use [P] for the child, and [WO] for the parents, because
there is only room for 2 principles, not three. I don't want to do the
tag twice, once for paternal, and once for maternal, because that would
read poorly.
My problem is that, while the sentence reads wonderfully for the
Principle, when I look at the report for one of the Witnesses (parents),
that person no longer turns up in the sentence. I think I want it to
read just the same as the Principle sentence when it prints, because I
can't see any other way to include the relationship information from
child to parent.
Can someone tell me what I might have done wrong? I've fiddled a bit
with the Witness sentence, but I can't seem to get it right. While I
have changed a number of my sentence structures already, this is the
first really complex sentence structure (well, at least it is complex
for me, to this stage!) I have worked on, so there is probably some
basic principle to do with the Witness sentence here that I am missing.
TIA,
Doreen Neilley
