Hi, Linda:
Although I haven't entered them yet, I have a number of records of annual
family reunions held by the DUTTON family of Springfield, Vermont, in the
1930s through 1960s. For reasons of consistency and analysis, I will stick
with the one Tag per year approach, with the date in both the Tag date
field and in the sort date field. With only one "umbrella" Tag, which can
of course have only one sort date, I would lose the ability to see the
attendance events in the Person View in the correct chronological order,
among many other things.
My suggestion is to take the same approach that you do with other
repetitive tags, such as census events. You may have to edit the final
output to create a more fluid narrative.
