I use roles. Just two of them. I added the following to the marriage tag:

[RP:Groom1] married <[M4]> [R:Bride1] <[RPAR:Bride]> <[L]> <[D]>. <[M1]> <[M2].>

[RP:Bride1] married <[M5]> [R:Groom1] <[RPAR:Groom]> <[L]> <[D]>. <[M1]> <[M3].>

The role names have to be Groom1 and Bride1 to differitate them from the roles Bride and Groom. [M1] is used to include items, text that I want to appear in the narative of both bride and groom, while M2 and M3 are used specifically for text for the specific person. But to your question:
I enter in M4 and M5, ususlly in italics, the words "firstly" "secondly" etc. which will create sentences such as:

He married [ITAL:]sixly,[:ITAL] Catherine Parr, daughter of Sir Thomas Parr and Maude Green, at Hampton Court on 12 July 1543.

She married [ITAL:]thirdly,[:ITAL] King Henry VIII, son of Henry VII and Margaret of York, at Hampton Court on 12 July 1543.

I did base these roles on the way they would appear in UFT; you might want to make it [D] [L] and not [L]{D], and change the RP to R, etc. But the idea would remain the same.
