Darrell,
That is kinda what I meant too.
I think we all agree that no new changes will be implemented until 5.0
is finished in it's current state. But after that, I hope that this can
be looked at more fully.

Hi, Lee:
What would be needed is for the default name and/or place styles to be
saved with the tag type, in much the same way as default sentences for
each
role in a tag type are currently saved. Obviously, just as in the case
of
sentences, it would need to be possible to override the styles locally.
In my opinion, *all* output styles would work better if they were
connected
to tags and/or reports *only*. That is, there should be no additional
entries in the master lists (whether for names or places) solely because
of
styles. I don't have an opinion on whether I would want a *default*
style
to be assigned to each name or place. More important, I don't expect to
spend too much time thinking about it right now since my idea is
unlikely
to be accepted anytime "soon". If ever.... Suffice it to say that the
way I
use ver. 4.0d (and the way I expect to use ver. 5 when I make the
permanent
move) is structured in such a way as to emulate this approach,
especially
with places.
That is only to inform you of my thinking process. And, I do understand
that name styles and place styles do not work exactly the same now.
Anyway,
it would not be necessary to implement such a radical change in order to
create a more tag-centered style approach. The much more limited
approach I
stated in the first paragraph shouldn't be all that difficult to put
into
place. Of course, it should wait until more pressing matters are dealt
with; that is, finishing TMG 5 with its currently defined feature set, a
manual, and a CD.
