Jane,

I got this idea from someone on the list...

I use dummy people to set up which other researchers are researching which lines. I set up each family group as a separate unrelated person.. family name being researched in the first name and Researcher is the surname. I give this "person" a number of children with just a birth tag, and each "child" is a researcher interested in that line. I include their contact information.

The result? In the collapsed list of surnames in Project Explorer, everyone is clustered under the "surname" Researcher. Address, common ancestor, e-mail address are all included as comments.

This has been very handy. Don't give yourself a quota on questions....Just keep asking!

I can see I am going to pepper the list with basic questions, if I am not
careful. Here is the second one for the day. I will hold any others till
another time.

I have read of those who create a dummy tag to serve as a repository of
information, conjecture, notes, etc. about a particular surname. My
question is, if I do this, what designation do I give the tag? Unrelated?
If so, then it would appear that it would not be linked to the others in the
family, or does that matter? Guidance here, if you please?

Jane S.
