Franklin,
I don't use Clooz, but I can give you more details on how I use TMG to
help me find my documents. I set up a new SOURCE ELEMENT called
Personal File Folder and one called Source Number. Each of my sources
end in: Otherwise known as [Short Title]: [Personal File
Folder],[Source Number]. That then prints Birth certificate:John Doe:
Doe (1), #2438. That means that the source can be found in File Folder
Doe (1) and that it's number is 2438. So all I have to do is go to Doe
(1) and find the document with #2438 on it, and that would be John Doe's
Birth Certificate. If I am in the file folder and I need to find the
reference for the source, I just need to go to source #2438, and the
information about the source is right there. I let TMG number my
sources.
I did try Clooz, but I found it awkward to use. And the data had to be
entered twice. Now if I could decide on a filing system for the
documents. <G>

Yes, I just had a discussion at our TMG User Group about this very
question.
I was about to use Clooz to enter my data and was told by the more
experienced TMG users that I could accomplish essentially the same thing
in
TMG. We did not have time for the "how to's" to be in much detail, but
it
gave me pause.

However, following this thread, I hope that those who also use Clooz
could
say more about why they are using both Clooz and TMG and how much
information they actually put in Clooz? What does Clooz actually help
you
do that TMG does not? Thanks.
Franklin

I understand your filing system, but what does Clooz help you do?

Thanks -- Patty

I file my documents according to type rather than surname. I have
several
categories, i.e.: births, marriages, deaths, obituaries, articles,
genealogies,
etc. I then give each document a number (birth 0001, birth 0002, obit
0001).
I'm using CLOOZ, though you could use Access or another database. Each
document goes into a separate acid-free sheet, a label with number is
put on upper
right-hand corner of the sheet (and same number in pencil on document),
and
the document is filed in a notebook according to number.
