Gary,
Most of us that moved from UFT early on did so by going to 4.0 and then
to 5.0, so I don't think it will be a problem. I didn't have any data
loss that I can tell, although at times a date will just be in the sort
date field. Haven't figured out what caused that one, but the date is
there, just not in the date field. But back to your question, yes I
think that would work, since it worked for a lot of us over a year ago.

Subject: [TMG] TMG 5.09 and UFT import

Are there any disadvantages of importing a UFT database to TMG 4..0.d
and then importing that data base to TMG 5.09 as compared to importing
UFT directly to TMG 5.09? By disadvantages I mean benefits or data
lost, not the time involved.

I ask because each time I do a trial conversion of my UFT data base to
TMG I encounter problems. I have been doing this through several
releases of TMG 5.0x. With each release the problems change but there
are always problems. Each time I try doing the import via TMG 4.0.d the
problem does not occur. In the case of TMG 5.09 the import drops the
place on several thousand of my events.

Wholly Genes support has been quite willing to look at my data base to
work around the problem if I am ready to convert. But I am not ready to
convert when I can't be sure I have noticed all the data losses that
occur on import. I have been delaying my conversion to TMG 5.x until I
could get a clean import in which I could not find any loss of data
problems. However, I am thinking maybe I should go ahead and convert by
importing via TMG 4.0.d to TMG 5.09 if there is not some downside in the
effects on my data.
